The main difference between Ubuntu and Windows is that Windows is a closed-source operating system by Microsoft, while Ubuntu is a Linux-based open-source operating system that uses a significant part of the Debian Linux-based operating system.

Windows is a proprietary operating system developed by Microsoft, first introduced in November 1985. One of the most widely used desktop operating systems globally, Windows is closed-source and requires a valid paid license to use. Official support and updates are provided directly by Microsoft. While it is generally less secure and heavier compared to Linux distributions like Ubuntu, it offers strong compatibility with a wide range of hardware, commercial software, and games. Windows is designed for ease of use, making it a popular choice among general users, businesses, and gamers. It features a graphical user interface and includes a built-in virtual assistant called Cortana to help users interact with the system using voice commands.

Ubuntu is a Linux-based open-source operating system developed by Canonical Ltd. It was first released in October 2004. Being open-source, it is completely free to use and does not require a paid license. Support is provided by the community as well as Canonical for enterprise users. Ubuntu is considered more secure than Windows and offers better performance, especially on older or lower-end hardware. It is commonly used by developers, system administrators, and tech enthusiasts. Ubuntu may be slightly harder for beginners but offers powerful terminal tools. It includes a voice assistant called Jasper (optional with configuration) or uses third-party tools for voice interaction.
