The main difference between Ubuntu and Windows is that Windows is a closed-source operating system by Microsoft, while Ubuntu is a Linux-based open-source operating system that uses a significant part of the Debian Linux-based operating system.  Windows is a proprietary operating system developed by Microsoft, first introduced in November 1985.
